Description
AT-104C Air Quality Monitor with Carbon Monoxide Detector CO Meter Temperature, Humidity, and Altitude.
The AT-104c battery-powered air quality monitor’s primary function is to measure and record the levels of various pollutants and environmental conditions in the air. These devices are used both outdoors (environmental) and indoors (industrial, domestic, or workplace).
The AT-104c air quality monitor accurately detects and quantifies the following parameters:
- Temperature
- Humidity %
- CO (carbon monoxide)
- Altitude
Measuring CO (carbon monoxide) is very important both indoors and outdoors, primarily due to its high toxicity and risk to human health. Furthermore, it is undetectable by the senses and is usually generated by the incomplete combustion of organic materials (wood, gas, coal, gasoline, etc.). It’s common in homes with poorly ventilated heaters, stoves, water heaters, or fireplaces.
Main functions of an air quality monitor:
- Measurement of specific pollutants
Detects and quantifies the concentration of pollutants such as:
- Temperature
- Humidity %
- CO (carbon monoxide)
- Altitude
- Continuous data logging
Takes real-time measurements and stores data for later analysis. Some models have internal memory or transmit data to cloud platforms.
- Dangerous level alert
Generates automatic alarms if pollutant levels exceed the limits established by regulations such as the WHO, EPA, or local authorities.
- Monitoring general environmental conditions
In addition to pollutants, they often measure:
- Temperature
- Relative humidity
- Atmospheric pressure
- Decision support
In domestic, industrial, urban, or institutional settings, data helps to:
- Implement corrective measures
- Assess health risks
- Inform the public
- Comply with environmental regulations
Why is it important to measure carbon monoxide (CO)?:
- Because it is a very toxic gas
- CO interferes with the blood’s ability to carry oxygen, binding to hemoglobin much more easily than oxygen.
- Even at low concentrations, it can cause headaches, dizziness, nausea, and confusion.
- At high concentrations or with prolonged exposure, it can cause loss of consciousness and even death.
- Because it’s undetectable by the senses
- It has no color, odor, or taste, so a person can’t tell they’re breathing it without measuring equipment.
- This makes it a silent killer, especially in enclosed spaces.
- Preventing Indoor Poisoning
- It’s generated by the incomplete combustion of organic materials (wood, gas, coal, gasoline, etc.).
- It’s common in homes with poorly ventilated heaters, stoves, water heaters, or fireplaces.
- Measuring CO can prevent serious domestic accidents.
- Monitoring in Workplace and Industrial Environments
- In factories, workshops, garages, tunnels, or mines, it can accumulate if there’s poor ventilation.
- It’s mandatory in many places to comply with occupational safety regulations to protect workers.
- Impact on Urban Air Quality
- CO is one of the most common pollutants in cities with heavy traffic.
- Measuring it helps assess the impact of transportation, regulate traffic, and make decisions to improve the air quality.
